In any type of therapy, research suggests that a strong and safe client-therapist relationship is a critical factor in the change process. We therefore strive to promote safe, constructive, and culturally aware treatment relationships between our clients and our staff. We are an outpatient therapy collective designed to provide weekly sessions.
“Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive. When someone enters the pain and hears the screams healing can begin.”
― Danielle Bernock, Emerging With Wings: A True Story of Lies, Pain, And The LOVE that Heals
Trauma turns you against yourself, to overcome it you must learn to be your own support system. In order to do this, you must first find safety within yourself so you can make healthy choices and access coping resources. Once you are able to regulate your emotional experience, we use research-based trauma treatments to guide you through processing the trauma so that it will no longer have the same overwhelming impact. Finally, we support you in addressing the collateral impacts created by the trauma, healing damaged relationships and getting your life back on track.
Families come in many sizes and shapes. They can be our greatest support and/or our greatest challenge. We believe that many psychological problems arise and are complicated by family interactions. In these cases, change cannot occur or be maintained without making changes within the family. Working through these challenges can strengthen our bonds and heal our wounds so that we can experience less conflict and better support each other. We strive to create an environment where every family member feels safe to express their perspectives and needs.
We believe that a couple must enjoy a strong and safe emotional connection in order to be a partnership. Our approach to couples therapy helps the couple learn to listen deeply and respond with empathy. We are all longing to be seen and understood for who we are, and sometimes our conflicts prevents us from being seen as we are. We support couples in overcoming conflict, strengthening the marital bond, improving communication, practical problem-solving, and building the relationship you desire.
Every person is unique, and requires a customized approach to treatment. We view the therapeutic process as a collaborative one in which you and your therapist work together to develop a shared vision for therapy. In order for this to occur, a sense of safety and connection with your therapist is of the utmost importance. We work towards creating a space in which you feel comfortable to express all parts of your self. Through this relationship, we will help you develop insight, cultivate skills, and identify solutions to problems that will help you make meaningful changes in your life. We emphasize open feedback and communication with your therapist so that the relationship grows along with you.
